Busy time...

Wow, I can't believe it's the middle of August already. I went and picked up my grandchildren last week to come and spend a few weeks with us. This week has been soooo hot that we've been spending lots of time near the water. Saturday we spent the day at a friends place that has a nice big pool - such a great relief from the heat! Yesterday we spent the day at the ocean searching for shells and crabs and whatever other beach goodies we could find.

Today we went to the museum (love that air conditioning) then we went fishing on the Pier and had ice cream. Tomorrow we are off to the lake to spend the day swimming and building sand castles. Next week we are off camping with friends. Well I hope everyone is staying cool and having a great week.

Playing with Websters

Don't you just love Websters papers? I don't think I've seen any one of their paper lines that I don't love. I found the ones I used in this layout of my daughter and her boyfriend at one of our local scrapbook stores and I just had to have it! For this layout I used plain white flowers which I dyed with Rangers ink then twisted each flower petal and layered and added a tiny Prima rose for the center. Flower tutorial is from Jaded Studios. I cut the floral edges from a duplicate piece of Websters paper and then popped them, as well as the butterfly, up with pop dots to give it a 3D look. The title frame is one of Tim Holtz embellishments - I love Tim Holtz goodies! TFL and have a great day!

Smoke in the air...

Well we're having beautiful weather still, except for the fact that for the past 2 days there has a been a covering of smoke every where. There are a lot of fires in the Interior of BC and on the coast in Powell River and because of certain Highs & Lows in the weather system it is pushing all the smoke over here to the east coast of Vancouver Island from Campbell River (where I am) all the way down past Nanaimo. It's crazy and Environment Canada has an air quality warning out for people with things like asthma etc to limit themselves from going outside while this is happening. I sure hope this clears up soon, I think we need a few rain showers to settle it down, which we may have on the weekend.

So while trying to avoid going outside to much I was able to get a few things done. Thanks to one of the ladies over at My Creative Scrapbook (Bonnie, aka Cinnabon) she gave a link on her Blog to a great video for making the Camelot Doop Flowers similar to the ones Prima puts out. You can find the video by Jaded Studios here: Jaded Studios. I tried the ones out that she makes with the Hydrangea petals and they turned out really cute and were very easy to make. A picture of the ones I made are below. I haven't tried her paper version as I think I'm gong to use Bonnie's tutorial instead. You can find Bonnies's Blog here: Pretty Little Somethings

They came out pretty cute, didn't they?

After I made these I knew they would go perfect with some of Basic Grey's Infuse line of papers that I had. I loved the page that Bonnie had done using one of Liz Qualman's (My Little Sketch Book) sketches. So I thought I would try the sketch out myself and scrap a picture of my daughter and my Granddaughter. I really love how these flowers look on this page. I'd love to hear your comments on what you think about the flowers and layout. Thanks so much for taking a peek at my work.

Travels...

My stepdaughter left for Australia 3 weeks ago. She is volunteering for a year with a group called Latitude Canada and got a posting at an All Girls Private school in Rockhampton. It was going to be my dh's birthday just after she left so I suggested to her that it would be a great idea for her to do a scrapbook up for him of pics from her being a little girl right up to now. She's never really scrapped before and she did just an awesome job on this scrapbook for him. He was so happy to get this from her, he even had a few tears in his eyes (not that he will admit that though, lol).

Anyway I told her if she posted pics from Australia on her Facebook I could download the pics and scrap them for her to add to his book she gave him. She has taken so many awesome pictures it's hard to decided which ones to scrap. So these next couple of layouts are ones that I have scrapped so far for her. TFL
